On 27th May 2002, Australian Financial Review (AFR) newspaper published a cartoon of Lord Ganesha which was considered to be offensive by Hindu's in Australia and world over.
Hindu Council on behalf of other Hindu organisations took up this matter with AFR. On 4th June 2002, AFR in a letter to Hindu Council apologised to Hindus in Australia & internationally, with an assurance that this will not be repeated in the future
