The meeting was called by the Hon. John Cobb, Minister for Citizenship and Multicultural Affairs on 13 July 2005 at Level- 5, Gateway Building, and 26 Lee St. Sydney. Mr. Vijai Singhal attended the meeting to represent the Hindu Council of Australia. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the following issues:
